Why are moths attracted to wool rugs?
Bugs are always looking for a place to live and not be disturbed so rugs especially under furniture is a good place for them to live and breed.
Regular vacuuming is a start, check the backing now and again to look for signs. Check the top closely to look for fibers disappearing or looking different than the rest.
Moths like wool rugs as a food source and will eat away at them.
Laying the rug in the sun for a few hours will help some of them move out as they do not like direct sunlight/heat.
The only way to really get rid of moth eggs is to do a submersion washing.
We do have a treatment for the rugs that is non-odorous but leave a nasty taste for the moths to deter them from eating away.
